Hydration, Rider Safety and the No Feed Rule (Also Ellison Park Day 1 Results)

Ellison Park Cyclocross P/B Full Moon Vista Race #1 saw Jeremy Powers take the win on the men’s side and Kaitlin Antonneau do the same for the women. Full results for the men are here. We will have full coverage after the weekend.  In the meantime, the day was not without controversy as the UCI’s July 2015 change to Rule 5.1.038 caused a lot of confusion as it received its first test on an extremely hot day. Kicking Off US Cross at CompEdge (Curtis White Video)

High temperatures and a smattering of cowbells heralded a soft start to the cyclocross season in New England this weekend.

UCI Cyclocross ‘No Feed Rule’ Updated and Explained

With the first World Cup event of the season taking place September 16 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the topic of feeds (including bottle hand ups) during UCI cyclocross races has come to the forefront. CrossVegas is a hot weather race and in the past feeds have been allowed in the pit zone per UCI regulations, after the first two laps and before the last two laps. Mathieu van der Poel To Have Knee Examined Following Tour de l’Avenir Crash (Updated 9.3.2015)

Current Cyclocross World Champion Mathieu van der Poel injured his hip and knee during a crash in the second stage of the Tour de l’Avenir. MvdP returned to his bike after the crash and finished the stage three minutes and eight seconds behind the leader, dropping him from fifth to 107th. A trip to the hospital following the stage revealed no broken bones. A knee that required stitches and a bruised thigh seemed to be the extent of the injuries.
