The Team TOMS Shoes Bobsled Start

With the meteoric rise in popularity of tandem-cross in the Mid-Atlantic region, we thought it was a good time to give everybody interested in this nascent category a few pointers on how to place high in the standings. For our first installment we caught up with Chad Bartlett and Sean O’Donnell (Team TOMS Shoes p/b Kindhuman Sports) at the MABRAcross Championship in Taneytown, Md., to find out more about their unique bobsled style starts.

Although their technique may seem a bit unorthodox, it put them in position to finish third on the day. Ultimately, though, they were bested in the finishing stretch by a tandem with a nine-year-old stoker and one with a thirteen-year-old stoker after resorting to the same bobsled technique for the sprint.

Thanks for watching.

  1. Bloodied, but, not beaten. Get that guy “another” bandaid.

Another great day of tandem cross. Thanks for keeping the memories alive Bill.

  2. Glad this made it to the internets in HD so quick… no time to pad the masses with some bs excuse… Chad would probably have been better off just riding the tandem solo the entire race…

    textbook.

  3. It’s been proven that Sean races much better when he’s covered in blood. I told him to make sure he’s prepared for the tandem race. He apparently took that seriously.

It looks like the 2nd spot on the tandem is up in the air for next season. I thought matt had it locked up with the air tandem but Sean brings something to the team that Matt doesn’t. . . . Sean is the Wildcard.

  4. IF I HAD NEVER SEEN OF THIS I PROBABLY WOULD NO EVEN BELIEF BECAUSE IS HE THE SAME DUMBY THAT EVEN HAD TROUBLE KNOWING WHAT THE TEAMS WERE FOR LAST WEEK WHEN HE WAS PODIUMS INTERVIEWS? GOSH WHAT AN EMBARASS TO THE SPORTS BUT THANKS FOR CATCHING THIS THE BILL BECAUSE I DID MAKE A LOL AND THEN I GOTS A DIRTY LOOK FROM THE GUY NEXT TO ME ON TRAIN!
