2012 DCCX Course Preview

This Sunday is DCCX, the only cyclocross race in the nation’s capital. It’s the biggest race of the BikeReg.com Super 8 Cyclocross Series and one of the biggest parties on the East Coast CX calendar. This year’s race, hosted by DCMTB and presented by Raleigh Bicycles, will once again be held on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home.

As in years past we had the opportunity to check out the venue a couple days early to give you a preview of the course before you show up on Sunday. If you’ve raced DCCX in the past most of the course sets up similar to last year. There are two sets of barriers, one set of stairs and the serpentine off-camber hill section designed by Terra Landscape Solutions. This means that depending on your bike handling skills, you could be off the bike anywhere from zero to four times each lap. Spectators will have the opportunity to encourage racers to not only ride the stairs but also to get some big air on the DCCX natural take-off ramp.

Look forward to seeing everybody Sunday. We will have Rosie and Superhero shirts, and socks, available for sale at the Crosshairs Cycling tent. Even if you don’t want some swag, come on by and say hi.

Here’s the preview.
