Playing Catch Up

Hello cyclocross friends! And mountainbike friends, too! Bill, here, and it’s been a while since I’ve had a substantive update on the site and wanted to give a bit of an update on what’s been going on at cxhairs HQ.

Hopefully, you’ve been tuning in to Crosshairs Radio. We’ve moved into a bit of MTB coverage over the past few weeks but that doesn’t mean cyclocross doesn’t creep into the conversation at least a handful of times on every show. So keep on listening. And make sure you become a member of the Wide Angle Podium podcast network. I know it gets old hearing me say it, but we need your support to continue to bring you the full slate of shows available on the network. So check it out: www.wideanglepodium.com. I’d love to have you be part of that project. It’s one we really want to grow into something special.

So what else is new? For the second year in a row, I’ve had the opportunity to work for the Trek Factory Racing XC team as videographer at the MTB World Cup races. Currently we are in Switzerland for this weekend’s Lenzerheide World Cup. Although I produced a lot of content in 2016, I believe I did a poor job of covering the experience outside of what I was doing for Trek. I wanted to try and change that this season. To do that I started FFR, a vlog (video blog? video log?)  with the goal of chronicling what it’s like to be at these World Cup events and to nerd out on course features and race tactics. You can follow along with all of those videos here: www.youtube.com.

To give you a sample of what they look like, here’s the latest from Andorra:

The plan is to keep these going through CX season. My goal is to try and get the most coverage I can to you at the events I’ll be covering. So far, these include Rochester, Jingle Cross, Trek Waterloo and Cincy. I’ll also be at Charm City, but announcing duties may curtail other coverage, there.

Along with vlogs, IG stories and other coverage, we are planning on doing live podcast shows at all of the races mentioned above. If you’re going to be attending those events, we’d love to see you out there.

Speaking of IG stories … if you don’t follow me on Instagram, do that now!! Also check out the Trek Factory Racing IG account. I’ve been doing these little mini-movies over there that I think you may dig.

And if you’re interested, here’s the type of video I’ve been producing for Trek. These have been a ton of fun to put together. The TFR team, from riders to staff, is top notch and really great to be around.

I think that’s it for now. More to come. Including some super cool series I have planned for the site that we will start rolling out soon enough.

Thanks as always for supporting cxhairs. Seriously, thank you.

If you want to get in touch with me, shoot an email to feedback@cxhairs.com. Okay, let’s finish this post up with some more photos. I got to put on my photographer hat last race, which was a fun change. Here are some more shots, along with what’s above, from Andorra.

Talk soon.
