Bonelli Park in San Dimas, California, is the host of the first PRO XCT event of the season. A UCI HC category cross-country race is on tap for Saturday, March 16, with a short track race on Sunday, March 17.

Big names will hit the track including the best riders in North America. The World Champ, Kate Courtenay, will be toeing the line in the women’s race, along with former World Champ, Catharine Pendrel, and many top racers who will be spending their summer racing the World Cup circuit. Here is the start list for the women:

During practice laps we also got a good look at Worlds U23 silver medalist, Christopher Blevins and, a surprise entrant, for you, my cyclocross friends, Tobin Ortenblad. Here is the start list for the men:

The Bonelli track is fast without much, if any, technical features. The dry dusty double-track is suited for climbers with big engines. This one’s going to be a war of attrition with no real chance to rest. Full gas for the full race.
Friday was all about figuring out the course. Here are a few shots from my first look at the venue.

Nice shots, Bill. Cross-country is what comes next after gravel.
