In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Crosshairs Cycling, DCMTB, and C3-Wagner Roofing are canceling the 2020 editions of DCCX and Charm City CX. DCCX is a two-day UCI C2 cyclocross event held in Washington, DC, for the past 13 years. Charm City CX is a two-day UCI C1/C2 cyclocross event that has been held in the heart of Baltimore, MD, since 2005.
As much as the race organizers and cyclocross community look forward to a return to normalcy and a resumption of U.S. bike racing, holding either of these events this autumn is not reasonable or safe. DCCX takes place on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, a federal government facility housing U.S. military veterans. Charm City CX shares its venue, Druid Hill Park, with the city of Baltimore and its residents. For the safety of the veterans at the AFRH, our Baltimore neighbors, and the racing community, canceling these events and looking forward to the 2021 editions is the right thing to do.
With the cancellation of DCCX and Charm City CX, the UCI Parkway CX Trophy Series, a time-based series based on results from both events, will not take place in 2020.
Stay safe, be well, and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2021.
