Trailside Dailies and Hilly Billy Roubaix

It turns out there really isn’t much of an offseason, anymore. And I’m okay with that. Since cyclocross season ended I’ve had the opportunity to grab my camera gear and get back to shooting and editing video. Something that I never have time to do enough of during a busy cyclocross schedule. And without a doubt, it’s been a pretty awesome summer. SSCXWC15 Video

Not only did the Singlespeed Cyclocross World Championship leave the United States for the first time ever, but those crafty Canadians even got Telus, a telecom company, to fund a damn fine looking short film. From the looks of it, Victoria put on a top-notch event. From racing to riding to partying, this one hit all the right notes. Continue reading “SSCXWC15 Video”

Life After Motocross: Jan Denuwelaere

From the celebrated “sorry cake” presented by Zdenek Stybar, to getting in the middle of the Wout/Sven Koppenbergcross sprint, to winning the elites without a contract Belgian national championship, Jan Denuwelaere (Crelan-Vastgoed Service) has plenty of amazing stories. Maybe a guest spot on Crosshairs Radio is in order. But before ever toeing the line on a cyclocross bike, Jan was racing motocross. Reading lines, cornering, handling, the similarities between the sports are plenty and the transition for Denuwelaere to a motor-less bike has been a successful one. 2016 U.S. Cyclocross Nationals Video: Noah Bell

Man, I just stink at e-mail these days. After putting out a call for crowd-sourced Cyclocross Nationals video clips I got an email from Noah Bell, who is the son of my teammate and Rock Creek Velo coach, Mike Zoeller. It was a modest e-mail letting me know that I could use any of the clips Noah shot and that he posted video on You Tube. I thought “awesome,” and moved on to the next email without looking at the clip. That was a mistake. Noah’s work makes me think “why bother with the crowd-sourced video” along with Gentry Jeffereson (another Mid-Atlantic young guy) they pretty much nailed it.

[Update: This version of the video shouldn’t be geo-restricted.}

2016 U.S. Cyclocross Nationals Video: The 270 Montage

Gentry Jefferson of the 270 Montage is many things: fast Mid-Atlantic junior on the bike, skilled freestyle scooter guy, son of announcer Joe Jefferson and budding filmmaker. We are going to concentrate on that last title in this post. Gentry put together a really nice edit from last week’s U.S. Cyclocross National Championships at The Biltmore Estates in Asheville, North Carolina. Full coverage from the donut race to the elites clocking in at just under five minutes. Nice work, Gentry. Can’t wait to see the next one.
