March granted us five Wednesdays this year, which meant week four of racing at Crystal City BID’s Wednesday Night Spins was not the last time we will see everyone in the garage for 2016. Because we mix it up with a cargo/tandem/bike-share/anything-goes race and a fixed-gear race on the final night, it meant that two of our categories had their series finales in week four. Week three of Crystal City BID Wednesday Night Spins turned out to be another great one. Close races in every field. A women’s event that continues to be the highlight of the night. Week two of Crystal City BID’s Wednesday Night Spins is in the books. It may have been 75 and sunny during the day but that didn’t stop nearly 100 racers from heading underground for another round of parking garage races. A couple tweaks to the week one course meant better flow and great racing. It was an awesome night with a women’s race that was one of the best of the entire series. Cyclocross season is over and everyone here at In The Crosshairs has gone underground. Literally.
Last night was the kickoff race for the second annual Wednesday Night Spins sponsored by Crystal City, Vornado and Crosshairs Cycling. Four levels below ground, in a parking garage, we hold three races every Wednesday in March. The course serpentines through the garage level, which has been cleared of cars.
